Hi you all!
I thought I’d start a new topic on wheel covers. We can discus here different styles of covers used in kustom cars.
I have been wonderin about these covers. Does any one know are these aftermarket or OEM.
I know they accecpt original Sombrero medallion…
Medallion on these are stamped steel and Somreros have bronze or something.August 29, 2013 at 16:52 #5352Rik HovingKeymasterSome very interesting hubcaps you come up with lately Kari…
I do not think I have seen these before…
They look to be aftermarket. On the factory Caddy Sombrero’s you can see that back of the medallion when looking at the back of the hubcaps as far as I know. Also the flat section of the raised bullet looks to be wider than on the factory hubcap. But the ribbed section showing on the back side I have not seen before. The Calnevar hubcaps do look a bit similar from the front, but have a different back as you can see below.Below is the backside of a set of Caddy Sombrero’s showing the gold back of the medallion. And also show the different location of the valve hole.

That’s is why I thought they are factory made and they feel “factorish” too :). Not like thin aftermarket covers. But it’s hard to believe you can find them mounted on Cadillac convertible… I don’t know.

August 31, 2013 at 12:31 #5385MartinParticipantThose are some nice caps Kari! My first thought was Kaiser but maybe they are a set of aftermarket caps?
I have posted this question on the HAMB without getting a good answer, maybe you guys might have a better clue. Will a set of Oldsmobile 1950-53 Sombreros fit the 15″ Ford shoebox rim? I tried with a set of 52 mercury caps I had but to my disappointment the flange on the shoebox rim to hold the shoebox centercap didn’t want to allow the merc cap to pop on.

If it's a "V8"
