We have posted about the Ron Dunn Sectioned shoebox originally built by the Valley Custom Shop on the main site a few times. But we thought its time to start a CCC-Forum thread to keep you updated on the progress made by the team at Steve’s Auto Restorations.
We will be adding new material to this posts when it is being shared by the SAR team. For some earlier information check out the articles on the Custom Car Chronicle Main Site: Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5
The SAR team has just installed the Engine back into the frame.
The restored Crestliner steering wheel is waiting to go back into the car.

December 9, 2014 at 22:23 #20119Quentin HallParticipantOn the home run now. With the passing of time who would’ve believed that customizing would come full circle to restoration. The two can sit harmoniously after all. Lovely work.
Can I request a better pic of the drawing above the time clock please. ?December 9, 2014 at 23:24 #20122Rik HovingKeymasterCan I request a better pic of the drawing above the time clock please. ?

December 9, 2014 at 23:52 #20123TonyParticipantMmm, I’m going to be more careful about what’s in the background in my pictures.
Back to the Ford. I love it. But I just thought I’d throw up the words ‘over restored.’
I know this happens at places like Pebble Beach where cars are way better detailed and put together than when they were new, and I don’t know where you’d draw the line on something like an old custom which was modified AFTER it was a new car…just a point to think about because original customs were not built from a sand blasted frame and bare body shell etc.
The reality is there really is no choice but to do it the way these guys have. Especially if the thing is a wreck when found.
December 10, 2014 at 06:44 #20125Rik HovingKeymasterhmmmm.. perhaps a neat idea for another thread… whats in the background of those pics 🙂
Anyway… this is what I could do with the original image that SAR shared. I have asked for a more close up photo, but I do not know if this is a secret project or anything like that. I f I get more… I will share it.

Those tail-lights will be perfect for every skateboarder wanting the coolest hitch into town.December 10, 2014 at 22:48 #20154Eric HParticipantIt has been great watching SAR restore this car. The work they do is first rate and a car like this deserves nothing but the best. The funny thing is that I never realized it had a six until now.
December 10, 2014 at 22:51 #20155Eric HParticipantOh, and I need that wheel for Christmas.
December 11, 2014 at 00:41 #20160TonyParticipantI need the money that could buy that wheel!
