You really have gotten through a mountain of work. Great to see outside*, and the comparison. Thanks for sharing that.
*We get a much better sense of the whole car. Nice.

I just found out that I have been bequeathed 2 vintage 331 hemi engines.
I may have to reconsider my 318 choice. LOL

Word Tony.
One of them was rebuilt but never installed. If I remember correctly.
I have no clue about the second one.
My plan is to move forward with the 318 given the amount of work I’ve done to get it in the car already.
I will see the 2 hemis in the spring. Then I can inspect them and take it from there.
That’s my plan and I’m sticking to it.

Dash shifter bezel from a 1955 Chrysler
I may use this one instead of the one from the Dodge.
Longer. Narrower and overall more elegant looking I think.
The Chrysler can be back lit too I believe.
The Dodge has the shift letters cast right into it.
The Chrysler’s has plastic inserts that I can clean up and change to PRND. Plus it has a longer throw then the Dodge does and I may need that to get the indents to line up with the trans shifter lever.

Let’s just say that my health issues took a turn sideways.
Meanwhile…………
Santa’s helper dropped this gem off today for me.
It’s a front seat for a 2 door 49 Dodge.
It came from my salvage yard. The same car I was getting parts from.
Despite it’s looks, it’s all there.
And a starting point for me. I’ll let it thaw out and see what I can make of it.
Last pics shows what it should look like. LOL

January 4, 2022 at 08:37 #72562Rik HovingKeymasterSlightly used parts.
Enjoy the beauty of Customizing
January 4, 2022 at 17:37 #72567DavidParticipantSorry to hear about your health struggles Torchie. So glad to see you back at it. That seat looks about the same condition as the set waiting to go in my Merc….a nice start.
January 4, 2022 at 17:39 #72568Ian GibbonsParticipantTake care of yourself Torchie. Hobbies are fun but your health is priority one.
January 4, 2022 at 19:00 #72569TorchieParticipantThanks Gang.
Priority one for sure. Ian.
David. I know it will have to be sliced and diced to fit into the now chopped. Sectioned and channeled Dodge. And it still may not work. But at least now I have a starting point.
Rik. Slightly used is being generous. The price was right though. LOL
I used to have a friend that had lots of old car parts. When ever you asked him how much he wanted for something he’d start out with….. “Oh. That’s a very rare part.” Usually followed up with…….”They just don’t make them any more.”
I should have a better answer on what’s going on with my heart on Thursday when I see my Cardiologist.

So here’s the skinny. It’s been a rough winter for me.
As some of you already know I’m not in the best shape health wise anymore.
But beginning in December I took a turn for the worst.
Excessive weight loss.(Not that I didn’t need it.) Nausea and dry heaves.
I went 6 weeks with out eating solid food, blah. blah.blah…..
Multiple trips to the ER culminating in a 4 day hospital stay on March 15. The day after I turned 65. LOL
The concern was that my heart had finally given up and that would be that.
The upshot is that the heart is still working and I had a really bad reaction to one of the many meds I take everyday.
So after taking about 6 weeks to flush the med from my system things are on the up swing now.
All I need is regain some strength and for warmer weather(Snowing here today) and I’ll be back in the shop.
The set of 49 Plymouth bumpers I bought about 9 months ago are finally on their way to me. Via Mule train…….
As well as some other parts I have been scrounging for.
And just to prove I’m back I have my eye on yet another project. A 1953 Chrysler New Yorker Town and Country station wagon. LOL
So I thank all of you that have been posting your projects on here. Looking at them did a lot to get me through some real hard days.
Just for fun here is a couple of pictures of the new and hopefully improved, 125 pound thinner Torchie.
I bought these overalls new for my daughters wedding last October. They fit quite well then…LOl
Keep at it every one.

And what you say is true for sure, seeing progress on projects to be seen on the CCC really does help bolster spirits. We all get to feel a part of the process.
