looks like plenty of head room still left with you sitting in there.

Good to hear from you Mike.
Yes,Ā there is plenty of head room. I was sitting up a little high as I just threw in a wooden crate to sit on. LOL
Still needs some tweaking as far as the seat and such but I can get there from here.

October 19, 2021 at 01:20 #72025TorchieParticipantIt’s been a while but a lot has happened.
Spent 10 day on anti biotics while my infected elbow settled down. NO shop time.
Spent last weekend getting my youngest daughter married.Saw my oldest daughter for the first time in 3 2 years.
Spent today fitting the toe kicks and then I trimmed the floor piece and set it in the car.
I will make the transmission tunnel removable.
You never know…..
Torchie.

Great progress.
Enjoy the beauty of Customizing
October 19, 2021 at 15:28 #72040Larry PointerParticipantTorchie, you are an inspiration to all of us.Ā Your never-say-quit “gumption”, and creative ways you share in fabricating and “old school” customizing set the bar.Ā Hang in there, friend.
October 19, 2021 at 22:08 #72042DavidParticipantBoy, you sure have had a lot going on. Glad your elbow is doing better. Congrats on the wedding and even greater congrats on getting to see you oldest after all this time.
Car is looking great. I never cease to be amazed at how far you’ve come from what you started with. Perfect example of how to eat an elephant…..one bite at a time. Well done!

October 19, 2021 at 22:45 #72044TorchieParticipantThanks all.
The elbow was something out of the blue.
I have arthritis in them but this one blew up like a ripe melon.
I think it was from pounding on the steel subframe.
We usually see the oldest at least once a year but with the way things are……
David. Ā I have to remind myself how far Iāve come on the Dodge too. Seems like the song that never ends. Ā Lol.

October 20, 2021 at 00:49 #72047TonyParticipantSeems like the song that never ends.
Helps if you know the words…I’m still searching for the lyric sheet.
In my case it would be as thick as a telephone book (for those who remember what they were like) but it’s still hard to find!

lol. A phone book. Ā Ranks right up there with pay phones.š³
Im old enough to remember when if you were too short for your seat at the table you were given a ā Yellow pagesā phone book to sit on.
Tony. I prefer to think that itās not that we donāt know the lyrics. We just keep making up new verses.

October 20, 2021 at 02:27 #72049TonyParticipantI was asked again on the weekend when my car would be finished.Ā I told them the ‘how long is a piece of string?’ line. Except in may case also, every time I think the string is getting shorter on one end, it gets longer on the other!
Im old enough to remember when if you were too short for your seat at the table you were given a ā Yellow pagesā phone book to sit on.
They were also useful for supporting furniture like a couch if a leg broke.
I don’t know what police use to beat suspects with now. (Apparently phone books didn’t leave marks or bruises.)

October 20, 2021 at 04:23 #72052Mild MitchParticipantLOL Damn, I remember all that too.Ā Am I old like you guys? Remember propeller driven airplanes and payphones? Some A**hole always had stolen the phone book you spoke of!

October 25, 2021 at 02:51 #72069TorchieParticipantStill waiting on some steel so I turned my attention to another part of the build.
In an effort to put as much Mopar back into this build as I can I’m going to use a 1955 Dodge Coronet, in dash mounted shifter.
It designed for a curved dash so I will have to make some side panels for it.
I think I like it on the left side of the dash gauges.
You can see how long the lever is and it turns to the right.
If I used it on the right side of the gauges the handle would clear the radio grill.
If I use it on the left I may cut off the lever at the bend and rethread the end of it.
That way the handle would come straight out of the dash.
I like the idea of the straight/shorter handle. Any opinions on which side to put it??????

October 25, 2021 at 04:21 #72081TonyParticipantAs above.
Plus, on the left, is there any danger of banging your knee or anything else into it getting in and out of the car?

It does to me too, Larry.
It just seems to fit better there.
