Good to see Torchie. Any progress is good progress.

    Indeed it is. Thanks, all.

Finished removing the paint from the roof today. Welded in some bracing for the floppy trunk floor and then using the equipment I use to flip wooden boats I tilted the car.

I can raise the DS more if I need to, but now I can work on the quarter area behind the DS door as well as start on the DS floor with out having to get down on my shop floor.

Neat trick to make the work easier to do.

In an effort to live up to that….

The reason I tilted the car was to make it easier to work on this area.

It’s always easier if you start with a rust free car. Right Tony.

Looks like poorly home made patches.

Added some more bracing before things get real flimsy.

These are after market rocker skins. You can see the OG sill under the new one as well as this seam.

Ouch!  Time to bend and shape some new sheet metal.  Cheering you on, Torchie.  Don’t weaken!

In keeping with the do something everyday…..

Yesterday was adding some more bracing and planning day.

Today I started on the plan.

It’s nice that they tarred over the top on that patch.LOL

Need to save these rubber plugs as they are what hold the sill plates on.

Pictures tell the rest of the story.

Reminds me of the theme from the movie Love Story “Where do I begin…”

….. to tell the story of the rust that has no end”…..

I hope it favors the foolish as well, Tony.

New outer rocker skins are here.

Like most repop sheet metal they will need some tweaking. The bottom edge where my hand is needs to be at a 90 from the upper edge. No big deal.

    All in all I’m satisfied.

You are actually making good progress Torchie. The rocker look pretty good where they will end up!

Since Tony is slacking on the rust repair …..

Bent the new rocker skin. Much closer now to the shape it needs to be but it needs to roll under a bit more.

I will also be forming the new quarter panel patch so I will be able to tie the rocker and panel patch together.

What ever I do on this side will most likely be repeated on the ps side so as long as it looks good I’m not worried abut exact duplication of what was stock.

Going to cut away the old , rusty metal. Do some rust inhibitor treatment then butt weld the new pieces in.
