seems everything fit together pretty well after all your cuts.

Yes it did Mike.
The doors need a few more inner relief cuts but nothing major.

Finished solid welding the roof today.
Lots of grinding then scuffed with 40 grit on a DA.
Epoxy primered. Then a thin coat of reinforced filler.
Most of that will be taken off, then skim coated with a light weight filler.
Last 3 pics are of the Dodge prior to the chop. Then with the chop. And then with the chop and section.

And older Mike….
Looks great Torchie! I am really liking the section.
Thanks Ian. It does make a big difference.
How’s the truck coming?????
This is going to be it for a while on the Dodge as I have to get back to work on the Chris Craft project.
Today I knocked off a bit more of the reinforced filler. More epoxy sealer then some cheapie enamel over that. Even though the car will be tarped when outside I don’t want any rust.
I will still be scrounging for parts, etc. I will keep things updated as they happen.
Thanks to everyone for their support.

I am wanting to get the timing and tuning done before I put the front clip on but February was the coldest we have had in 80 years. Average temp was -20C (-4F) so I didn’t really feel like having the garage open to do that and then March has been a busy travel month for work so weekends have been family time. Snow is finally almost all gone and travel is a little lighter so hopefully I can get the garage emptied out a bit and get on it.

Pulled the body off the frame today.
The frame is shot so I am exploring possibilities.

Enjoy the beauty of Customizing

In some ways it was to be expected Rik.
As I mentioned at the start of this thread the Dodge was on it’s way to the scrap yard when I grabbed it.
The big issue is that Dodges are sort of a stand alone. Even though the DeSoto of the same year shares the same body shell the frame length is different. And the Dodge Wayfarer of the same year has a shorter wheel base.
I guess I will just concentrate on the body work for now and see what comes up.

Yes it is Ian.
I knew the frame had issues, but not this many.LOL
This also points to why most people would not have put this much work into a car in this starting condition.
It’s not like it’s some rare breed or any thing historic. Just an old rusty Dodge.
Oh well. Ever Forward….
