Last photos before John it taking it all apart for the final stages…

John has started to take apart the car for the final stages of the restoration. With the body off the frame it was also a good time to finalize the new exhaust system John made. Body prep, primer and paint is up next.

I have received a bunch of new material from John, and have updated some of the posts above with new photo to make sure the thread updates are in the right order…. Be sure to check out the previous posts, since some great photos of John’s work have been added.

“To provide proper protection to the underside of floors and fenders, I applied Wurth Stoneguard. Sprays evenly, has adjustable texture settings on the gun, and once cured, itâs rock solid and stays black. I used it on my â59 Apache build years ago, and was so impressed with the results, I knew it would be perfect for this classic Barris Kustom. I also used the Bond & Seal seam sealer to seal all joints on the inside/outside. Big thanks to Alex Wurthusa and the rest of the crew Wurth-USA for the support.”

“The car has zero body filler as of now. I sprayed 5 coats of primer over the bare metal and lead work. The body was so nice, and combined with the quality high build epoxy primer that doesnât shrink, the car wonât need much filler. I use Squeegâs primer…same as Terry Hegmanâs â51 Merc, and many other cars Doug Jerger has done. The results speak for themselves. Quality and Longevity.”
“I just finished the first round of blocking, and after 2nd prime, it will be very close to paint.”
