“Havenāt posted in awhile. Been spending time with my Dad and catching up on work. Close to finishing the Hocker and delivering to interior shop soon. Hereās a few shots from months back when installing the body. I used my adjustable body lift that allows me to install the body alone within an hour. Operated by a cordless drill, and raises/lowers by the function of a worm gear arrangement.
Slow and controlled, and allows fine adjustment at any angle.
Happy with the fit of everything, and moved on to installing glass, wiring, ect.”Enjoy the beauty of Customizing

May 12, 2023 at 13:21 #74586David ConradParticipantI’ve had 4 pairs of running boards done by Hunley and they are perfect. Here’s one of them.

“Hocker radiatorā¦
Goal was to find a tank with minimal dents in order to get a nice polished brass finish. Started with a original unit in good shape sourced from Dave Simard. Had a new core installed along with the water neck moved to left side to accommodate the Cadillac engine.
I sanded and polished the brass, then had it sealed with Cerakote byĀ @rockstarcoatingsĀ Finished the sides in DCC black. Final product looks fantastic in the engine bay and replaces what the car originally had.”Enjoy the beauty of Customizing

“Steering wheel detailā¦
Crestliner horn buttons are usually red & gold, which wouldnāt match the color theme of this car. I thought chrome/blue would be a nice detail to compliment the dash, gauge faceplates, ect. Using silver paint in place of chrome would have never delivered the same impact. Had to be chrome!
Started with a freshly casted button fromĀ Steering wheel KrisĀ then I figured out how to get the chrome finish I was aiming for. Once that was completed, I painted the center rings to match the body color of car.
Then repainted the wheel in Wimbledon white to match the dash knobs, radio knobs, ect. The end result is exactly what I was after. Couldnāt be more pleased with the outcome.
Although this was not a feature on the original version, Tom would have loved this addition if he were restoring the car today. Speaking with the Hocker family throughout the years has confirmed how much he appreciated nice details on his car. Had he be given the choice back then, he would of went for this no question.”Enjoy the beauty of Customizing

“Just about finished up with the ā40. Few more things to complete, then send it home with the owner before we head to upholstery. Took a few undercarriage pics to share.”

Dash is original with new chrome, stock gauges rebuilt with blue acrylic face plates like it originally had, Crestliner wheel with custom horn button, painted dash knobs to match, all garnish moldings are original Barris units, original Appleton plastics, stock trunk springs reversed for upholstery panel clearance, fuel door relocated, and an overall clean foundation prior to upholstery.”

July 27, 2023 at 09:55 #74748Rik HovingKeymasterTrunk spring detail. In order to utilize stock springs, have them clear the upholstery panels, and get a nice chrome finish, it took some work. To start, I reversed the springs so the coils faced the inside. Then bent the arms accordingly to allow enough clearance when shut. Added a spacer on the bottom which will protrude through the panel, then made some new brackets on top. It was a challenge to get them working correctly and smoothly, with no binding. If either one was slightly misaligned, it would affect the gap when deck lid was closed.
For the chrome, I knew it would be tough to achieve a nice finish without taking them apart and doing everything separately. I removed the stock rivets, tapped the stud, and secured it back together with a bolt. This allowed nice plating on all areas and gave the result I was after. Will be a nice compliment to the completed upholstery.Enjoy the beauty of Customizing

So clean and neat. I’m painting some white inside too, it helps with seeing things in dark corners under the dash , inside doors etc. when putting things together.

“Hocker ā40 engine bay. So glad to reach this point and see the results. Only had a few original photos for reference, and aimed to get it as close as possible. Used an original style ā40 wiring harness and made extensions where needed to adapt to the Cadillac engine. The generator sits higher than originally, to avoid cutting into the into fender for clearance. So much work to get everything properly placed and make it look right. Engine runs beautifully and experienced no issues upon start up. Couldnāt be happier with the results; took a while to hit this mark, but worth every bit.”
