”
It’s been over a year since I’ve posted any car related updates. I’ve spent the last 10 months shifting my focus and dedication on my father’s health and recovery, and the time and work invested into him has completely paid off, as he’s made some incredible progress and continues to make strides every day. Very thankful to have him here and very fortunate for good luck on our side. Thank you to everyone who offered their support and positive comments on my previous post; it’s appreciated.
I’m back in rhythm on the Hocker ‘40, and currently working on final assembly. Chassis progress is underway and turning out fantastic. It’s receiving the same level of attention and detail as everything else that has been completed so far. Exciting stage to be at, and looking forward to seeing it come together. Really happy to be back in the shop more often, and will be posting more updates soon. But most of all, grateful for the extra time spent with my Dad.”

“Prepping the grille for final copper and fitment before chrome. Die cast can be really difficult to plate successfully, and this was no exception. So much work to fill the pits, remove porosity bubbles, and carefully sand the copper buildup between each round in order to to maintain good fitment and gaps. The outer face of the bars wasn’t an issue, but the inner portions were problematic. Aimed to get them just as smooth as the outer sections, so it would look killer in chrome, inside & out. This is the original grille of the car and was hoping for the best outcome possible.”

“Hocker vent wings. Took the original Barris units, made some revisions for a better fit, cut and polished new glass, and finished them off with factory style rivets.”

KeymasterUpdate from John…
“Spent the winter and spring months chipping away on the chassis restoration. The original frame was in really rough shape. Found a clean ‘40 frame and started fresh.
Notched it, flattened the crossmember, built a new exhaust, and finished everything else that was needed. Installed a low mileage ‘53 Cad 331, ‘40 trans with Zephyr gears, Columbia 2-speed, ‘41 Lincoln brakes, and detailed everything nicely. Couldn’t be happier with the results. Next step is installing the body on chassis soon, and continue with final assembly. ”Enjoy the beauty of Customizing
