Custom Car builder Tom Black who created two stunning 41 Cadillac Customs in the past coupld of years is at it with a new project Custom.
Tom had the help of Eric Black to visualize his new dream custom based on a 1957 Chrysler 300 Ghia! The car is in the progress of getting shortened 8 inches, lowered fins, and a lot of other details. I will be following the project and share more when the project progresses…. Should be VERY interesting.

December 13, 2019 at 18:05 #65774Larry PointerParticipantLooks like the shortening is through the door span?Ā The roof looks like it has a seam up front, where it was rejoined above the windshield surround metal.Ā Wonder what Eric Black’s artwork look like for the concept?
December 13, 2019 at 19:39 #65776Rik HovingKeymasterI think the shortening is done between the door and rear wheel opening, and yes shortening the roof must have been needed to get the right lines. Looks like the C-pillar was thinned in the process as well.
Eric’s art has not been shared… might take a while before they will show it…. The Excitement!!!!

I have always loved the “Forward Look” Mopars of this era.
Please keep the posts coming.

December 21, 2019 at 11:34 #65856WGParticipantLooking forward ( pun intended !) to seeing how this turns out !Ā I’m guessing it’s inspired by the one-off car Ghia built for the Shah of Iran based on a 1955 C300 chassis , presumably it was finished in 1956 ,very modern looking then. Still survives in Tehran auto museum , spoilt a bit by its current colour imo .Ā The front on the Ghia drawing looks a little wilder than what was built , interesting to see way the Tom Black car goes.Ā Well worth getting Valerio Moretti’s book on Ghia if anyone wants to see / read more about the funky stuff they were building.
@James D , really liking the Boano Alfa 1900 in your avatar ! Saw thatĀ car at Retromobile Paris 2014 in faded red unrestored condition. Great that it was returned to its original Turin show yellow / black with correct taillights etcAttachments:

To be totally honest, I didnĀ“t know anything about the Alfa, but now you say itĀ“s a 1900, it stands to reason that it would be really stylish. I never yet saw an ugly Alfa 1900.
