ParticipantWell…..we’re all up to date now…Aug 18th 2013. This is where I’m at now, my next step on the 40PU project is to place all the sheet metal, engine & trans in the chassis. I need to make sure it all fits after finishing the chassis, then it’s on to media blasting, painting, powder coating the frame & suspension………..say tuned…..Craig.

KeymasterI then sanded the black outer ring with 1000-2000 grit where hand ware would appear from years of use. I want a used look to match some of old parts on this PU.
I love little details like that Craig. Those will even more make this pick up truck a joy to look at once its all done.
I also love the two louvers on the glove box. I’m not a big fan of louvers on body panels (at least not on customs), but I love to see them on details like this.Enjoy the beauty of Customizing

ParticipantThanks Rik, I really appreciate it!
Yes I agree with you about not liking louvers on Customs, I think they should have a very smooth look to them. This PU build is a little more Hot Rod than Custom, sometimes it’s hard to mix both and have it looking right.September 12, 2013 at 17:06 #5762Craig Wise

KeymasterCraig, I love all the details like the painted red (interior color) of part of the door jambs.
And that color looks so good on the engine with the subtile pin striping and the few chrome accents…
Must feel so good to put all the details in place.Enjoy the beauty of Customizing

ParticipantRik & J.W.N……THANK YOU – THANK YOU!!!
I’m entering a phase of this build I really DO NOT care for! Trying to put all the painted sheet metal back on the frame is a real pain in the A$$ !!!! I hit the cab with my engine stand and that made a small chip in the paint, I’m sure there will be more, and it takes two and three guys to help lift some of the sheet metal parts, and I’ll have to this all over again after the chassis is painted/powdercoated……wish me luck! cw.Attachments:

KeymasterSorry to hear you chipped the paint on the cabin… I hope you will be able to fix that.
The “used” steering wheel looks great. Ads a nice detail to the interior. But even though it might be your favorite part of the built… I also think it can be really fun to see the car come together again…
Enjoy the beauty of Customizing
