I came across this photo of a crashed 1950 Ford; a custom by the look of the remains. However, I did a bit more investigation and discovered this was the other car involved in the fatal James Dean crash, owned by a Donald Turnipseed. Dean was driving his Porsche, the “Little Bastard.”

Drivers wait with their hot rods to compete at the Abbotsford Airport drag races run by the B. C. Custom Car Association, Vancouver, BC.
The El Cajon Drag Strip Riot in San Diego. On August 20, 1960 during an organized protest over the closing of a popular drag racing spot, the riot began. More than 3,000 teenagers and adults lined the intersection of El Cajon Boulevard and Cherokee Street and shut down nearly 3 more blocks where they began holding impromptu drag races.
