Doug Thomson did something similar to a ’41 Ford he did for Jack Walker.
Only that was a convertible and it was sectioned as well, so the proportions are a bit different. But it shows that it could work.

And i see they were right to bring the top of that rear fender forwards and not match the position of the Merc fender. It balances out the super long front fender line too…

King KustomsThanks. interested in any tips replies or insight concerning the fade away fenders especially the hinge side door opening. I have seen them in line with the original opening and sometimes offset toward the front of the car.
Had issues with the original door hinges so I just grafted the 49 merc door end to my old door. I made it fit. now I need some 50 Mercury door hinges!
