The build articles of that car in R&C in the early 70’s had a huge influence on me.

May 10, 2020 at 19:26 #67316Keith AshleyParticipantStill a mystery as to where my Larry Ernst clone went to following its sale in Sept 2018 at the R.M. Sotheby Auction in Indianapolis. All the auction company would tell me is it went to Oregon. Just curious as to who has it. I have not seen any pictures of it at car events etc.

When I sold my custom truck and it went to California , I (And every one else it seems) saw it all over the internet for about 6 months. And then it vanished.
Strange about your Clone, Keith. I wonder if it ended up overseas????
It’s a pretty high profile car to just disappear like that.
Torchie
May 11, 2020 at 07:26 #67328Rik HovingKeymasterI’m always keeping an eye out for both Keith’s Larry Erns Clone as well as your 41 Ford Torchie… So far nothing.

A very interesting rare 1940 Mercury Convertible Sedan Custom originally restyled in the 1940’s or early 1950’s.
This is what he said about the car. If somebody recognizes the car, please let me know. I have a couple of old photos of these ’40 Merc Sedan Convertible Customs on my site, but non I have found so far match this car
“Just picked up this 1940 Mercury convertible sedan, that was customized in the 40’s, the chopped A pillars and shaved door handles are gas welded and lead filled, it looks like it had tonneau cover on it at one time, it looks like it was a maroon color and then blue metallic. I knew about the car and it’s whereabouts the last 30 years, the merc was last registered in the 60’s and came out of Lawndale Ca. If anyone knows any more information or maybe has old pictures. Thanks”

May 23, 2020 at 10:09 #67501TonyParticipantMan that’s bitchin. Not mad about the colour, but bitchin just the same.
May 23, 2020 at 17:19 #67502Paul(hombres ruin)ParticipantNice 36 the stance and Carson top look great the color is a let down. There isn’t  any depth to it and it doesn’t highlight the amazing body lines of the 36, it has a 80s street rod feel to it
