Sinister…. Cartoonish… as only one can do…. Paul Cepeda.
I am not usually a huge fan of Paul’s cars but this one really works for me! Makes me think of something that would be in a Dick Tracy film.
I like it. Anyone can do the same thing over and over. Paul takes chances . Sometimes he wins other times slightly misses. He won with this one.

One of the photos he shared from 1946 was this snapshot showing an interesting ’36 Ford Custom on the far left. Sadly only a small portion showed… but the bumper and the ’40 Ford headlights looked familiar. After some brain searching I remembered seeing a similar set up in one of the Dan Post books. I found a small picture in the back cover collage on the Blue Book, and the same larger photo in the Dan Post Master Custom-Restyling Manual from 1947. Sadly there was no info on the car in the Dan Post book… still interesting early Custom.

“On Sunday August 19th I attended a Tri-Five Car Show in Issaquah, Washington. My friend Tim Norman had let me know that he would have Madame Fi Fi there on display showing some of the recent progress that he has made in getting it finished. I was happy to see several other customs there among the sea of beautiful restored and resto-mod ’55 to ’57 Chevs. Tom Nielsen
There was another top ten custom parked next to Fi Fi and the customs were arranged in a row by themselves. It was a fun day and there were some folks who remembered the ’56 Chev from the 1960’s car shows and stopped by to check it out and talk about the car.”(Photos by Tom Nielsen and Tim Norman.)
