    See, no spots looks good!

Nice, simple grille bar, uncluttered bumper, simple side spear. There’s a lot of subtlety to appreciate.

Not in love with the headlight treatment, but then I don’t dislike it.

Agree with you on that Tony… It does look very good.

My only point is the side trim. I do like the way it looks, but I feel its pointing down in the front. My guess is it is parallel with the bottom of the car, but would be better if it would be moved up an inch or so in the front, so that it flows in between the bottom of the body and the fender fade away line.
And I’m only saying this because I once made the same “mistake” on a 1/25 scale model car and I only noticed it after it was painted… so its something I will never forget 🙂

Drew Bland shared this photo of Dr. Nick’s 40 Merc on facebook. The nice background and set up caught my eye. Not a big fan of the ’57 Caddy hubcaps on fat fendered cars… but then I saw the bumper…

Very nicely reshaped ’49 Plymouth ribbed bumper shaped like an oversized 40 Mercury bumper. It could use a few inches of space between the bumper and the body (personal opinion).. but I really do like that bumper. Lots of work went into that, very creative. Makes me wonder how the rear bumper looks.

Yes Rik, I think it is the fade away that creates an optical illusion.

The  Merc above does indeed have bumper with a lot of work. I agree with you about the spacing.

Wheel covers are too new for the build style (in my opinion 🙂 )

I believe that front bumper on the Merc is a rear bumper off a 49 Plymouth station wagon.  As I recall they did have a “notch” out of the top rib.

Ah, yes! But still has been reshaped. Interesting idea.

Yes the dip in the wagon bumper made it a bit easier… but still a lot of work on that bumper.

    The story might have been..

Buy one pair, get the second pair for free.

    Just guessing.
