What a neat story, Glenn.  A missing piece of you finally came home again.

Thanks Bert, the Scandinavians truly understand the aesthetic balance of customising. Love the sectionedfadeawayed Merc.

The boattail is beautifully crafted. I found an unlimited supply of free aircraft rivets from the makers of the roof ventilators that my dad has marketed for years. I’m itching to do some riveted aluminium. Yesterday a IMG_0278mate here sent me this pic of his tether car. . . . Might have to go into business building boattail racers.

Quentin, note the steering on that car. You can do that with an old Ford transit box.

Thanks for the pictures Bert. Always good to see the fadeaway Merc. Hope he will get some shiny paint on it one day.
Looks like you guys had some great weather.

Yes, the weather was great on saturday. I had only seen that great looking Mercury from distance before so I was very pleased to be able to take a closer look this time. Unfortunately, the Ayala Thunderbird didn’t show up due to delayed shipping.

Super display of cars (and pics!)!  The paint work looks exceptional on all these examples – makes me wish I had stock in fine-line tape!  Ha, ha.

    Good stuff! Thanks.

Dennis Crooks might be able to bring that steering wheel back.

A friend send me this picture he got from A Studebaker Owners Club message board.

Dwain Gridinger “When Barris ‘freshened up’ the Grecian, he called it the Modern Grecian. This photo was taken at the 1960 Oakland Roadster Show. I returned on the last night to see all the vehicles start and drive out of the building after the awards ceremony.
The hood on this car was slightly raised. I think it had a battery charger hooked up.
I was just shocked to find out that nothing had ever been touched in the engine compartment! Fender wells still original green color, dirty engine, not detailed.”
