I too love the “block of soap” styling of late 30s early 40s. The 812 Cord introduced it and the Sixty Special and Continental epitomised that design ethos.

Came across this nice photo of an Australian Sloper mild Custom.
Could not resist doing a quick Photoshopped version of it.

Wish I knew someone who has one of these very cool cars Tony. Maybe we both need a few working bees.

Very nice Rik. These are pretty chopped looking already. Tough one to get right i think.

Tinwolf, your version of the Lincoln looks like a big cat getting ready to pounce on its prey – very nice!

I love the look of that side trim on the ’56 Dave… And that roofline is so nice on those four doors. Inspiring.

Thanks, Rik. I love that roofline, too. They used to sell cheap because they were 4 doors, but not anymore.

I actually did a chopped version, but threw it away as it spoiled the balance of the car. Sometimes Detroit got it right!

I dig those Australian slopers, but the roof seems to bend from the B pillar back, making the B pillar look like a tent pole pushing the roof skin up. I wonder how hard it would be to chop one in real life and remedy that situation? I think they cool get away without a chop…nice illustration, Rik

I have to agree with you on the sloper Rob… And I already reshape the drip rail over the B-Pillar slightly on that one.

I think shaving the drip rail and rounding the door top corner will already improve the chop a lot, and possibly reshaped the rear quarter window a bit more…

Perhaps another time. Still limited in my Photoshop use at the moment.
