CCR lived up to every hype you gave it Mike. Ā Cam, the fellow who came down with me, is not the die-hard custom enthusiast the rest of us are; yet he had a great time seeing the impressive gathering of customs and meeting the all the folks – constantly in awe of how nice everyone was to talk to. (He is a “car guy” and was a huge help in the re-build of the Merc). Ā I think he understands my enthusiasm now!
I don’t have a final total on milage yet (no odometer), but google earth puts it at around 3,200+.. Ā I thought that was something until Danny pulled in from L.A.! Ā I guess custom car guys are a determined bunch!!
Dave, I don’t know how you will ever decide which Kemp to drive..!

July 1, 2017 at 02:15 #51623TorchieParticipantBummer.
Seems like more and more people are posting on FB and Instagram. and less on sites like this.
I’m on FB but I can’t keep track of where everyone is posting pics. Plus truthfully. I’m not sure that people want to see all of my friends posts that I hit the like button for. Just as I don’t always want to see theirs. LOL
Hope you are still healing well Mike.

July 1, 2017 at 07:02 #51625Rik HovingKeymasterSorry to hear that Mike… I know it must be just one simple step that goes wrong.
I will create a how to upload photo to the CCC using Photobucket in the next couple of days… but in case that will not work…
Please send me a message on FB or email when you have posted something new on the project, I will upload the text and photos here on the CCC for you. So that all those who are not on Facebook still can enjoy the progress.Enjoy the beauty of Customizing

I just found this thread and am even more impressed with your car. Thanks, again for bringing it to Jalopyrama Hot Rod Show, featuring Customs at the Shipley. It looked great at the end of the line of shoeboxes.
Now for a Mike story for the rest of you guys….
One of the Mercs at the Shipley had the fan buzz its radiator on the pre-setup tour of Carroll County and was towed to the show for display. The owner ordered in a replacement radiator, but decided to get it back home near Pittsburgh to replace the radiator and fix the cause. Another entrant volunteered the use of his enclosed trailer, so a bunch of us helped push the car into position to be winched into the trailer.
I’ll give you three guesses as to who got under the front to hook up winch. The first two guesses don’t count.
Yep! It was Mike, the only guy in the place who is still on a long recovery path from a badly broken body.
Bless you, Mike. It was good meeting and talking with you.

January 24, 2018 at 02:23 #56371mike suttonParticipanthey guys, been a long time since i’ve logged in here and see there are some posts i haven’t seen. thanks mike for the picture and the kind words. also thanks again for the invitation to get me into that show. dave and torchie, thank you both. not much to report. the car pretty much left that show and has just sat in the garage since. i’m still progressing painfully slow. don’t go back to the neurologist till march and by then it will be 16 months and the nerve damage is no better than it was. they’re telling me now they think it’s as good as it’s going to get. still doing physical therapy and seeing doctors and not much else. i won’t give up on the car but pretty safe bet it won’t be done this year either. thanks for thinking of me, mike.
