Well I see Photobucket has fucked up my whole thread 🙁 Anyways I all in now.
Not sure if the difference will show up in the pictures but here is the original attempt again.
August 13, 2017 at 22:04 #52658TorchieParticipantLooks to me like it has more Gold showing up in it now Ian. As we have talked about in the past getting a true color picture is very hard to do. The first version just looked like funky 70’s Mopar green to me.
The question is. How do you feel about the color now????
Good to see you back at it.

Yeah Torchie it does. It’s still a greener than I had first envisioned and what Manuel sprayed for me but its a lot better than it was. I was so worried about the amount of paint I had I didn’t want to mess around too much with sprayouts and risk running out of paint so I went with a mix I though looked pretty good. I probably could have gotten away with a bit more gold in it but Manuel warned me too much would start to look muddy and even what I had in the cup was starting to look kind of murky so I quite while I was ahead. It changes colour a lot depending on the lighting and angle you look at it.
Got a few more pieces done today. It’s pretty hot during the days here so I have been trying to get my painting done in the morning before it gets too hot.

August 14, 2017 at 02:05 #52665TonyParticipantWill look different again in the sun. Probably more yellow?
August 14, 2017 at 17:05 #52672Ian GibbonsParticipantThanks Larry. It is definitely a better feeling than the last time. It looks a little more gold in the sun Tony. It has been really hazy here the last few day due to smoke blowing in from forest fires so I haven’t had a good chance to get and pictures of it out in the sun but will try once the smoke clears out. These pictures don’t really convey the effect that gold powder has on the colour as they make it look like just a solid colour but the paint really shimmers in person. Almost a pearl effect.
August 14, 2017 at 17:33 #52674Rik HovingKeymasterHappy to see these new pictures Ian. They look good, reminds me a bit to John’s Studebaker pick up truck done by Keith Dean… And I very much like that color.

August 14, 2017 at 20:06 #52675Larry PointerParticipantAnd Bettancourt’s Ayala paint of lime gold. As a kid looking at the little pages, the idea of a “lime gold” custom really captured the imagination! Ian, I bet it really does shimmer in the direct sunlight.
August 15, 2017 at 21:55 #52691Ian GibbonsParticipantIt’s a really hard to capture what it looks like with cell phone pics but here are a couple out in the sun. It really changes colour a lot depending on the angle you view it from. None of these panels have been colour sanded and polished yet either so they are still a bit dull. The more I look at it the more I like it.
August 16, 2017 at 15:40 #52708TorchieParticipantGood that you are liking it Ian. It will look even better when it is all put together.
That was one of the things that I liked about the color that I was painting my truck. Some times it looked dark blue or in certain light it appeared as almost black. Some people thought that I was using some of the newer color change type of paint when in reality is was good old Ford Washington blue.
Can’t wait to see it buffed. Keep at it.

August 18, 2017 at 06:42 #52727Ian GibbonsParticipantGot some more done tonight. That’s everything except the two small filler pieces that go between the bed and the running board. Now I need to shoot a couple of coats of clear on it all.
August 18, 2017 at 06:45 #52728Ian GibbonsParticipantI also sprayed one of the inside window frames. I am undecided if I should go with this colour or just stick with white and blue. It would be the only lime colour inside the cab if I did them this colour.
August 18, 2017 at 07:36 #52729Rik HovingKeymasterI like the. Lime gold color on the interior window frame. I always like repeating the exterior color on the inside in some way. The dash, or in this case the window frame. It ties the inside with he outside.
Looking forward to see the color clearcoated.Have fun

August 18, 2017 at 09:04 #52730TonyParticipantCall me ignorant, but why did you not clear coat at the time?
BTW, the colour looks great.
