November 20, 2017 at 20:22 #55034Ian GibbonsParticipantThanks Kyle! I though about that stuff from Restoration Supply (they use to carry a fine ribbed one as well)for quite a while and even bought something locally that I though would be kind of close to the rib sizing to see what it would be like before I ordered and I didn’t like the way the cut side looked with the wider ribs. It really looked unfinished compared to the finer ribs of the stuff I have now. If it was just a straight edge on both sides I think it would look fine but when I cut it to the shape of the board the larger sized ribs and gaps looked sloppy. I was trying to figure out a way to fill the gaps along the one edge without it looking like crap but am not sure how I could do that. Maybe if I put some sort of trim along the edge it would work but not sure. It would cost me about $400 Canadian to get what I need up here so without a fool proof plan I didn’t want to take the chance. I am sure tempted though.

Is that stuff flat on the backside? Â Perhaps sanding the ribs out along the edge you are concerned about might “finish” the edge? Â I know sanding rubber take the sheen off so that may not be ideal either.. Â Arrrgghhh, I feel your pain!

November 21, 2017 at 00:44 #55038Kyle ConnoleParticipantYea, I thought the rib sizing might be wrong, but worth a shot.
I was trying to look for a while too, and I ended up with the same thing as you, found some, but it appears you have to buy the whole roll. Â Another thing I came across while looking that might help was soling sheets for repairing shoes. Â Not sure if you can find a large enough sheet for running boards, but something to look into maybe.
I know what it’s like to have a vision and not be able to find what you need. Â I’ll let you know if I come across something.
November 21, 2017 at 00:56 #55039Ian GibbonsParticipantKyle there is a guy in NY, Canal Rubber, that has it and sells it by the foot but he won’t sell to me in Canada if you are still looking.
November 21, 2017 at 02:14 #55043Kyle ConnoleParticipantWell that sucks. Â If he’s got what you need, you’re welcome to send it to me and then I’ll send it your way. Â If you can’t find anyone who will sell to you. Â That’s a lot of shipping though, maybe someone closer to NY would help out.
November 21, 2017 at 02:28 #55044Ian GibbonsParticipantThanks but it’s not the shipping that is the problem. I can get it shipped to Montana and pick it up there but he won’t take payment from me being in Canada.
November 22, 2017 at 16:58 #55090Ian GibbonsParticipantWell I had some white SEM vinyl dye kicking around and some adhesion promoter so I thought I would experiment a bit. It adheres quite well but does come off if I scrape it pretty hard with my finger nail (you can see it in the picture of it on the running board) so I am not sure if I should chance it or not. It’s a water based product so retouching might not be that bad.
I really need to do the white don’t I?
November 22, 2017 at 20:14 #55091Dave (a.k.a. rodncustomdreams)ParticipantYes You Do!! Â Â ;D

I know why you a sticking with your vision if at all possible – it just looks right!

We can work that out too! Â The white would look great.
November 24, 2017 at 18:34 #55110Mild MitchParticipantyes white!
I am sure some of us in the US can help get the stuff to you from Resto. Supply. I also need to order some black from them for my Buick step plate area.
