Dave.
The ones that I have installed and have seen installed all have the “friction” nut with the two arms with screw holes coming off it to secure it to the garnish moulding.
The directions that came with my Casco light calls it the “Interior Escutcheon” bracket. This bracket is also the part that seems to be missing from many of the vintage spotlight the we see for sale.

That seems to be borne out in the majority of the images I could find (amazing how few pics of the interior mounting seem to be around). Luckily I have those pieces – although one has been mangled. For the record I was given one Guide model S18 (without the mirror), and found another on ebay after a long search. They are both in excellent condition and have a very nice cone shape similar to the style used on the early customs. I had been hoping to find some five inch sealed beams to make an easy conversion to 12 volt, but the lamps listed at 5 inches are never exactly 5.. I hate to start removing lens from reflector just to upgrade the bulb as the brass is crimped to secure the lens.

I looked at the Guide 18’s as well as I too like the shape of the light housing.
Not sure why I settled on the Casco instead. Most likely the price.LOL
I just picked up another Casco for parts in case I need any. It is not in as good of shape as the first one but the handle is real nice.
Still looking for another one for the other side in case I run two. But I am in no hurry.

I installed my first spot and although I have mounted the exterior bracket and the interior “friction nut” or “interior escutcheon” to the “A” pillar, the whole kit and kaboodle is left to rotate around inside the brackets.. What on earth is meant to keep everything from spinning? I’m stumped..!
Dave
p.s. The lamp housing sleeve does not lock into the bracket – it just fits flush.

Isn’t there a screw to snug it up on the exterior A pillar bracket?
