I recently acquired a pair of what appeared to be 40’s Lincoln bumpers in the tiny photos from an ad. I am not unhappy with the deal, but when I went to buy them, they weren’t Lincolns as far as I know. I have a true Lincoln front bumper already to compare. SO, anyone have any idea what they are? I like them and they will most likely be a good fit for an early 40’s style Ford custom I have in planning stages…

    Any input is welcome

    Thanks,

    Mild Mitch

Looks like 1940 Pontiac bumpers to me.

I always thought those were a nice (more available) alternative for the Lincoln units.

I think you nailed it Rik! Thank you. I looked at a lot of cars from this era, but never thought of Pontiac. I wonder who stole who’s design idea on these?

Wow, I never noticed how similar those Pontiac bumpers were to the Lincoln!

Yep! similar enough I didn’t give a second thought when I saw the CL ad. The guy listed as Lincolns,, he didn’t know. As soon as I saw them, I knew, but just said “I’ll take ’em!

No reason other than they were available.
