ParticipantAs I have said before. “Amazing.” BUT…..
I have one question.
What’s the significance of what appears to a key zip tied to the steering wheel?
Some thing left there by Jim Street perhaps?????

KeymasterSeries of pictures taken at Press day by Christophe Chossat “Mr Kool”.
Thank you so much for taking the pictures, and sharing them with the CCC.

ParticipantI’m a fan of the Golden Sahara II and glad its back out in the public . The restoration looks great. The lit up tires are hideous and while the car originally had them it also ran whitewalls. Better suited for the Batmobile than this car. Just my opinion probably not shared by many.

ParticipantThanks for the excellent photos BUT I cant miss out on the opportunity to see it for myself in the flesh, so just booked a flight and taking a day out, I cant wait!……………………….

KeymasterBob, I also think that the Golden Sahara looks better with white wall tires and the earlier hubcaps…. But at the same time these illuminating tires make it look as if it vomes from outerspace. It fits the whole idea Jim Street had so perfectly.

I agree with you and Bob, Rik. But……
Lets put this back into the proper time period. 1950’s. Everything was, Atomic this and Atomic that. Didn’t matter if it was a boat(Atomic skier) or a plane. Plus we were just beginning to get serious about the space race. Theories about Martians and life on other planets were everywhere. Along with UFO talk. Not to mention what people were predicting things like cars of the future would be like. The GSII incorporates all of that plus…..
I can only imagine the effect the lit up tires had on the crowds that came to see it back in the day.
I love it!!
Mark spooner. I’m officially envious……
And thanks for the BEAUTIFUL pictures.
Bravo to all involved. And to Jim Street. RIP knowing your dream has been reborn.

ParticipantWow , great pics !
When I saw all the photos of the unrestored car after decades of storage , I thought , get it driving & leave the body alone…but when I see it unveiled at the Geneva show , have to say it looks great to see it as Jim envisaged , love it !
I note on the signage where they are capitalising on the Golden Sahara being the first autonomous car too , between that & the special tyres by Goodyear , unveiling at Geneva , some clever marketing & advertising going on 🙂
Golden Sahara will steal the show !
I can guess the new tyres cost more than the car itself plus its restoration bill !
