Germ, “losershero” has been sharing his wonderful collection of Custom Car photos, negatives, slides and other memorabilia on his Social Media platforms…

Germ was close friends with Brad Masterson for years and happened to be at the right place at the right time when some of the Barris Collection was cleaned out by George Barris.

He kindly allowed us to share this collection here on the Custom Car Chronicle as well. I will be adding more pictures and info in the next couple of days….

Germ is always interested in trading material… and some of the items are for sale for the right price.
You can contact him by email: losershero@yahoo.com

The Mercury’s doorline hump was reworked into a smooth “full fadeaway” body line, rear quarter panels and taillights from a 1952 Oldsmobile were grafted on. In 1955 The Mercury was brought to Sam Barris where it was updated with new trim and new tailights. This picture was taken after Sam Barris worked his magic on the car. I got the photo from another collector and had George sign it one summer when I was helping him out in the Hollywood shop. George took the photo.”

I don’t know if anyone is interested but the Encino address on the Tom Hocker photo envelope was Georges home. If you google the address you will see a classic 60’s modern design.

Another ad placement that was sent out to potential vendors when Kandy Kolor was all the rage. This one was sprayed from a can (lol) However good it worked I can’t imagine, but it was a hot product with the kids that built models.
I’ve only seen one real can of this in my life and it was in terrible condition.
Barris didn’t even have one in the shop that I can remember.”

“A few color transparencies from “The Emporer”. Chuck Kirkorian’s 1929 Ford Model A roadster.
The frame was fully chromed and it was powered by a 550 HP Cadillac Eldorado engine.
This roadster won “America’s Most Beautiful Roadster” in 1960.
One of these transparencies shows the roadster with the winner’s trophy in 1960.”

    From Germ…

“This photo is from the late 1950’s.
It’s a young Bill Hines doing some file work on a Kustom.
Bill was one of the first guys to explain things to us when we were dumb kids building cars in the mid 90’s. I remember going down to Bills shop all the way from North CA and spending time with Bill and his Kitty Cats..
I found this photo when I was looking through an old envelope of pictures that were cut from some old contact sheets.
The photo was taken by George Barris. Shirley’s T-Bird”
