The owners of the Paul “Snooky” Janich 1941 Ford originally built by the Barris Kustom shop have been searching for these rare hubcaps or trim rings that Barris used when the car was first built in the early 1950’s. These trim rings are very round, bulbous is shape and a lot different than what we have seen being used with similar style smooth full disk hubcaps.
There are three other cars that I know about (probably many more though) that used similar trim rings But so far the have not been identified and all the searches online have not resulted in finding a set of the right hubcaps or trim rings…. until today.
Kari Saarela from Finland send me a message that he found some very rare trim rings recently. He send me some photos of them. I recognized them immediately as the once that were also used on the Snooky Janich 1941 Ford. Items we have been looking for for a couple of years already.
And even better, Kari is also willing to part with the set.
They are perhaps not the most beautiful trim rings, but they are really unique, and used on the original version of the Snooky Janich Ford, which is the version to which George and Steve Mallory are rebuilding the car.
So now the one crucial missing part for the Snooky Janish restoration has been found… fantastic!!!
I will keep you guys posted on this.
