“The “Grande” 36 Roadster. This is a very unique “what if” conceptual project… it explores the questions: what if Ford produced a high end roadster in 1936 more on the level of a Dusenberg… what if it was scaled up both in luxury and size… longer and wider, classier and more powerful…. this car never existed, but what if it did? Well it soon will! The concept was from the creative mind of EBlackdesign, and we are in the midst of making it a reality. We started with a 40 mercury frame which gave us a head start on the extended wheel base and width, will ride on traditional split bones, dropped axle, banjo rear end. Engine is a V12 aluminum block Lincoln “K” engine, backed by a Borg Warner 5 speed manual gear box. Roadster body will be mostly hand built, but we did start with a pretty rough 5 window coupe. The overall length of the car increased over 20” and width about 3”. The rear deck lid has been remade to better follow the lines of the car, and of course the hood, fenders, doors, running boards, and body itself have all been remade, reshaped and resized for the new Grande design. There are also some amazing interior, dash and folding top ideas that will be happening in the near future! The name of the game here is elegant and classy. We still have a way to go on the metal work on this car, so far @paytontimm and @camacho_studios have gotten quite a bit done, but plenty more to go. We are all really excited to see how this unique take on a 36 Ford roadster comes out! Once complete it will be heading off to Florida for some top down cruising!
