Not my ’53, but I was part of the team that chopped it. This was done during one of Joel Davis’ (Davis Haus of Style) weekend chop classes. 4 inch chop at the A-pillars. A ’52 Chevy rear window was used.

    From Ken at FadedLoveGarage

Drop axle installed. Time to play with the rear springs a tad.

    From Buckland Automotive

1938 Ford custom pickup ready for paint with the many sheet metal modifications complete.

With ‘38 Ford car front sheet metal, ‘40 Ford front fenders. The hood top had to be extended on the sides so we added a 2 into 1 swage to flow down from the cab into the nose chrome trim.
Cab extension 4” through the middle of the doors, roof chopped 1 1/2” and crown reduced by 1”, and raking the screen back 3” to pull it all together.
Chevy pickup rear fenders on the shortened pickup bed with a rolled rear panel. One off fabricated running boards filling the gap.
Inside there is a ‘40 Chevy dash modified to fit the ford cab and to house a ‘40 ford gauge cluster.

    From Mark, Customs by Flash…

”After a series of sandings on Les PoPo (180, 220, 320) I put it into black HOK sealer. this will help identify any shallow low spots or bad curves on the car that block sanding might not pick up. I still have to do the hood and cowl vent, that needed a bit of work. Next step is to mount the body back on the chassis ( which is out for coating, and Mike’s rebuilding), then go over the engine compartment, assemble doors, and hood, and final prep for paint!”

That’s a lovely chop. I don’t think enough people rake the front screen and sometimes it’s a big improvement.
