September 14, 2018 at 07:46 #60811Rik HovingKeymasterWindow frames on Chris Casny’s 1940 Mercury…
“Fine tuning those stainless quarter window frames. They started life as 3/4 square tubing, bent to desired shape, the inside was cut out to create a U channel. The pieces were then welded together and finally ground, sanded and polished. Same process for the door frames. This was a bear of a job.”

“I’ve been procrastinating on the fender skirts. These skirts seem oddly perfect for a 40 Merc, because of the rounded spear that is repeated on the side of the hood. Let’s get this show on the road”

October 29, 2018 at 08:48 #61371Rik HovingKeymasterFrom John Lemoine…
“Ive posted some of these picks before of my 1940 Mercury Im working on, but some have asked I put them up since I posted the bumper picks the other day. Background is this was a car started by a friend of mine that died from cancer last year. I picked it up and have been working to finish it. I move slow, but Ive made allot of progress. I don’t have a timeline yet or a color settled on but as long as I keep moving forward with it, it makes me happy. Its a 1940 Mercury with 39 headlights. Its been chopped and converted to a 3 window. It. has had the hood modified so the sides are molded to the body. Lincoln Zephyr bumpers and grill and probably some other pieces. 46 Ford dash that I just rebuilt the gauges on also. I have a flathead for it, but will probably stick with a 350 for drivability. People that knew my T-Bird, know I drove it allot and still won at shows. All custom work has been done at Altissimo Restorations by my friends Brandon Penserini and famous customizer John Aiello. I added the pics I have, but will keep updating as I go. Front is lowered I beam and back is bagged, but traditional style, I.E. it doesn’t lay out… Hope you enjoy – Johnny”
