Beautiful chop and stance Matt. The proportions are spot on.

“We got the buck made for the 37 ford chop! We cut roof down 4.5″ vertical and will be making Matranga merc styled door tops and quarter Windows!”

JUST LIKE THAT HUH..! Well sheech I thought the same thing……
Rik that 37 Ford proposal is very close to your 1936 FORD / MERC idea….!
The most interesting idea to have the skirts wrap around the whole rear fender, But what is up with that extra large hole cut in the rear trunk area going to be for…..?????
This 37 done in the same white paint as the Bob Pierson 1936 coupe would of been amazing with this chop and flow…..

I would guess that it is a small trunk below the rumble seat.
August 15, 2018 at 09:34 #60320kustomlandParticipantI am not able to see it correctly from the angle of the photo , But if they have had to move the rumble seat down lower to adjust for the roof chop I don’t think it will look that nice….. Tho even if they re positioned the rumble seat to allow for the new trunk compartment it still don’t look right….. Most people opt for the removal of the spare neumático….. At the rear so to show the wonderful curves of the body….. Now there is not much room in this new compartment with a rumble seat to begin with , And if it was open and being used you would only have enough room for a spare tyer …? Seems like a lot of hole in the rear with gaps that will be seen in the body , And depending on the kolor they choose the gaps will be highlighted and in my opinion will detract from all the hard work with the chop……
The 37/ 38 Australian built Ford is the only body to have a trunk that goes all the way to the edge of the roof line…..
It looks like they are adding 1936 Ford dickie seat to this body….. Witch looks proportioned and flowing and really nice…. And I would of just kept it at that……
But the added under compartment looks like they had too many ideas on paper and it may even be the sake of when its done and looked at they may say, “Yeah I should not have added that lower compartment ” Looks goofy….???
Personally it looks too bizy in the rear and would even worse if they tried to add a recessed license plate to the mix….
Photo is of a 1937 / 38 Australian built business roadster… What Ford did was braze welded up the window holes, Added a Carson style top with side curtains’. If I am correct they only built 12 of these and only 2 exist…..
The photo of the 38 Ford with molded in fenders has a 1936 Ford dickie seat added to it…….I think this style would of looked better with the Merc chop roof with maybe not so much of a molded rear but just suttle….
I think a better style rear would look nicer on this kustom…..

“Rumble seat lid and lower deck-lid made on the 1937 ford! The upper is all steel the lower has a steel frame and aluminum skin so we always have the shiny metal when you open it. Made the deck-lid open sideways for easy access being so low.”

As a matter of fact I just send him a message yesterday about something else. I have not heard back from him yet.. I have not heard back from Paul in a while so I hope he is doing ok. When he gets back to me I will ask about the projects and let you know.

“2, 3, 4, or 5”??? What do you think? The windshield is a dummy cut down 4” and I think it’s a great start. ”
“Out with the rear tray. Working on a side profile next.”
“Our side profile taking shape with Hillsandco . Still a lot of work to do on c-pillar and rear glass but I’m happy with the beginning. Lots of welding ahead. ”
“Working out the rear window. The catwalk will be a challenge but Hillsandco and I will get it.”
“This is how we reshaped the rear roof line. Hillsandco and i wanted to keep an original feel to the roof but streamlined. So we cut from c-pillar back every 3” down to the back window. This made the interior structure flexible and we could form it into the new profile. I hand drew the new shape into plywood to give us a form to work against. So essentially all the original metal is there just reshaped. ”
“Hillsandco test fitting the rear glass after reshaping the catwalk. Like a glove!”
“I think we remained pretty true to our original idea with chop. Rendering by Moffitt_brothers shows the original plan. Metal work is almost there Hillsandco and I welding and grinding very slowly keeping too much heat out. Rear window has good fit. Windshield will be rough but I remain optimistic.”
