Thanks David! Your Ford looks perfect!!!

In between i have the blackwalls mounted at the front axle and now i wait for two more blackwalls that i have ordered.

Also i have started mounting the door and kick panels and i added some ‘poor man’s chrome’ to my dash, i just polished the glove box door and the ashtray. I did this with the garnish moldings too, of course it doesn’t have the same look as real chrome but it looks good and matches the used condition of other parts on the Ford and the old paint.

And i just have deleted my taillights and will mount 48 Pontiac taillights. This is going to be a challenge for me, because the shape of the pontiac taillight housings doesn’t fit to the fender at a first go.

Thanks kustomland! That 5window looks great, is this yours? I’m also going to mount a pair of fog lights, looks good, and i plan to use them as turn signals, so i don’t have mount real turn signals elsewhere.

And i would like to make a test seating in the Calori Ford too!!

Michu, you got me wondering if the plastic on the end of old screw drivers have a different transparency look to them rather then the regular plastic the use to make the knobs….????

Also yes the 36 is mine, I bought it off the show room floor with just about no miles on the odometer….

It sat at the original Ford dealership in Kentucky, In Elizabeth town. The dealership was in Vine grove. They had 2 allocated to them and in 1937 one of the owners was taking a customer for a test drive and they were killed when a drink driver t boned them. I have a black and white photo of his 16 year old son beside the car on the show room floor…..

The guy died 2 weeks after i bought it…..

Because the Amish people are in the area and very still part of the horse and carriage life, when the car was taken out the old man would stop at the top of a hill to give the car a rest…..His mind set was he treated it like a horse…!

Now is your car a straight 6 or an 8 ??? It looks to be very original…!!!

A 41 ford coupe that sat on the deanship floor  like mine just sold in a place called  HOLDEN MISSOURI , It had just about no miles on it as well , IT was on EBAY 4 weeks ago for sale…..

My family looked at it for me , Asking $12,500 but i think it sold …..

I did not buy it because it was a inline six….

The main issue i find with a 36 ford and black walls is the rear fender skirts….

There are 2 styles FLAT / BUBBLE.As you can see by my 2 photos of the 36.

I dont like the bubble skirt with a black wall……..Makes the rear fender look goofy.

But  the flat fender skirt with black wall looks good…..

You dont have to worry about that because the rear fender is curved  and the bubble skirt looks good on a 41 ford…

Are you going to do the Barris style curved sill ?

Now you have gone with the red plastic …Is this going to be done with all your dash parts too now ???

None the less Michu what ever style or tires you choose , Its another car for every one to see and thats what matters the most….!!!

Now we got to get you a BARRIS plaque for that thing right ..! LOL…

Ah yes, now i remember the story of your ’36, i read it here somewhere!

About the screwdriver shift knob, i don’t know how to explain, but the transparency of the old screwdriver handle has just a special shimmer to it, also it feels a bit softer than regular plastic. But i think i will not do more knobs, maybe it would look too much with all the other changes i did in the interior.

The ‘new’ ’41 you mentioned sounds like a real bargain!!!

My ’42 was ‘restored’ (not so well) somewhere in the 80s, it still has the original V8 and 6 Volts. In the last 40 years or so it got a nice used look to it again and i don’t have too bad a conscience to customize it, because the paint isn’t original. But i keep that old repaint, i like it, just touch it up where necessary. For the next time i don’t plan any more modifications, except for a decent hood peak and maybe some grill improvements. The goal is to get it on the road soon and keep it as a Mild Custom for now.

Do you have some more pictures of your ’36?

All the time since i started my project i wasn‘t sure about what to do with the grill, now i know!

Last year i saw a 46 Buick grill for sale here in germany for very little money, but i couldn‘t imagine that it would look good in a 41/48 Ford, so i didn‘t bought it. But two days ago i saw a picture on kustomrama of a 41 Ford with a such a grill and i immediately changed my mind and of course i was annoyed that i didn‘t bought it. As i searched for the ad again, i saw it was still available! I called the seller right away and picked up the grill yesterday. Today i had put it in front of the old grill opening and i think it looks very good in the wider 42/48 front too, maybe it needs to be shortened a bit at the bottom. When i removed the stock grill i discovered that the whole front sheet metal incl fenders are slightly bent from an old accident that was badly repaired, so i have to fix this and then i can start to fit in the Buick grill…

Yes indeed! I couldn’t imagine this when i first saw the grill alone!

Say, that’s pretty cool!  A nice mod I hadn’t seen before.  As you say, a little off the bottom to visually “lighten” the effect and you have a winner!

Thanks Dave! I think i have to remove something between 1 and 2 inches, and it will look a little less massive, more like in the picture of the 41. On the 41 the grill is just mounted lower and hides a bit behind the bumper i guess.
