Participant<p style=”text-align: left;”>Hi Michu, I can’t seem to find your email. So, I’ll put this here. Shipping is crazy! UPS would be about $320.00 USD!</p>
I couldn’t get a quote from FedEx for some reason.Let me know if you would still like the Buick spear.

ParticipantThe Ford is still hovering above the floor but i can assemble and install the front end/axle now, the blacksmith straightened it. He pressed it (cold) in a 100 ton press. I was watching, with that force the axle bent back so easy like it is made of rubber! Before, the perch bolts had to be removed to remove the wishbone, this was done with heat and a press, they were super stuck but finally came out without being damaged. Also the tie rod was bent, i straightened it today in a small shop press.
And i made some progress with the grill and frenched headlights in the last weeks, looks good already but more sanding/filler/sanding… is neccessary, i just put some flat black on to see how it will look, i couldn‘t resist.

ParticipantThanks Larry and Mitch! Today i started placing the spotlights (they waited on the shelf for five years now so i figured it is time). It was a bit adventurous because when i got the car it had two unity spotlights on it, the holes were drilled in a higher position and it seemed it took the person some more attempts to come out in an acceptible position on the inside, the a pillar has various crude holes. I welded the holes on the outside shut and started on the drivers side and then made a template for the passenger side (the CCC articles were very helpful!). I drilled from both sides (inside and out) because i had no drill guide. It worked fine, for now they‘re loosely in place. Next i have to grind the brackets and fix the spotlights into position.

ParticipantI haven‘t made an update for a long time, so it‘s time i thought. To answer the question above, no, i will not chop it, it‘s enough work for me with just the minor customizing, not to mention technical stuff.
Some weeks ago i‘ve pulled the original engine wich is very leaky and has some valve problems from time to time. I have to look inside. But luckily i have a spare engine (out of a 48 Mercury, sat for at least 10 years) and i thought i give it a try and put it in the car. I swapped water pumps, carburetor and the ignition, and after one weekend work and after i wired the coil correctly, the engine started immediately and runs fine!
So i will use that engine and have no hurry to fix the other. Now i have to get all things electric working and then not much work is left to get it inspected finally…
