lots of work ahead to get the A+B-pillars done. And then the doors!!
Previus owner started to convert pillars from wood to steel. i build them back to stock wood!
Not going to build a original car, but i like to build it as a 40´s custom. with the feeling of a 40´s custom!
not as a streetrod looking as a 40´s custom!!August 28, 2015 at 17:01 #29544Rik HovingKeymasterthat must feel so good to have it put together as a real car… and your vision of the perfect Custom can be seen much better now. This already looks really good.
I see you have moved around the cars a bit since our Garage visit earlier this month.Enjoy the beauty of Customizing

January 8, 2016 at 14:06 #33678AndreasParticipantI have not given up on the Roadster…..
Have spent alot of time this winter working on the top floor in my house.
And there i have the wood tools so naturally i have to do some of the wood work on the Roadster.
Starting with the cowl, making the new A-pillars fit inside the cowl, fit together with the old wood in top on the cowl
then the brackets for the windshield-post need to fit and after that door hinges!
After this i hope i can fit the doors again?…..here is i pic of the dash, finally it almost fit!
January 8, 2016 at 16:12 #33679Rik HovingKeymasterLooks very good Andreas. I really like the look of the dash.. and of course that it is from an upscale Packard does help too with the right feel for the era.

January 10, 2016 at 12:52 #33712kustomlandParticipantHey Andreas do you need the wood seat frame for your 1936 Roadster project I posted on Kenneth’s build page? There is some photo’s posted there.
If you do need it I can have it sent to Connie in Victorville Cali who is also Tin Wolfs friend from back your way. I know he sends parts to you guys back there.
Just thought id ask as I don’t need it my self.

KUSTOMLANDHi!
Let me come back to you about the seat, i do need a seat for my car,(have only the rumble seat yet)
but i do need a complete seat. or templates for a seat!
i guess and hope my friend have kept the templates for a 36 coupe seat?….
I ask tomorrow.January 11, 2016 at 05:10 #33723KingKustomsParticipantWow! Nice work and ideas…can’t wait to see the rest. I love the bumpers and grill. Looks like you are starting with some very solid sheetmetal and parts, too. Get a cover on that beautiful shoebox of yours in the garage! 😉

King KustomsNovember 25, 2016 at 22:09 #45003AndreasParticipantOn it again. have been working with rust and dents + other things, but for inspiration i did a mock-up to get some inspiration.
But i need input/help on this,For now the plan is like the pic, 39 Teardrops, 39 Lincoln bumper, plate on the bumper and a pair of penciltips outside the bumpergards.
But there is some other ideas on my mind.
: Sunken licenceplate? almost a rule on a 40´s custom. but i think the 35-36 fords are so nice from rear just as they are without the sparewheel
: Do it like Jimmy Summers -40 Merc, with licenceplate and 41 Ford taillights in the bumper? might be good?I still want the car to look to have the “factory” or couchbuilt feeling
November 25, 2016 at 22:20 #45004Kenneth KristianssonParticipantWell there you are. Was thinking of this car a few days ago and wondered what happends. It´s a tough call to choose. I really like sunken in plates and I know a guy who makes some really nice glasses for it …hehe but the other ideas are nice looking too.
November 26, 2016 at 00:53 #45009PalleJParticipantand he will start the production line in a minute..just let me know..like you said, a real 40´s Kustom does have a sunken in license plate
cant wait to see this Andreas..you build cars with attention to the details
if you decide to have some lenses in the guards, let me know. i still have the resin and color dye to try make some.November 26, 2016 at 08:00 #45015Rik HovingKeymasterYeah… more progress. Really looking forward to this.
I’m also a big fan of the sunken license plate on 40’s customs. I see your point of the really beautiful lines of a completely smooth rear end on the 36 Fords. But on the 1940’s Customs it was so common to do the sunken plates with nice round corners. To me those almost look like how it should have come from the factory. Plus the Coachbuilders started the sunken license plate trend, so you are good there as well.
I do like the bumper plate on the Summers Merc, but at the same time the lines do not go to well with the flow of the body.
