Participantyes rik, the show has grown each year and continues to get better. kevin anderson and bob davis do a great job and the quality of cars is amazing. i know it’s a long way from home but you really need to get there! these are just some pictures of some of the cars that were there. hope you enjoy.

KeymasterDavid Myers took a bunch of nice photos at the show. I will be sharing them on his behalf.
I will start with some nice overall and details shows of Johnny Zaro 1940 Mercury, original built by the Barris Kustom Shop. Now owned and restored by Kurt McCormick.

KeymasterKeith Ashley’s Barris Kustoms build, Larry Ernst inspired 1951 Chevy. Built many years ago already and still looking amazing. Thank you David for those great details shots.

Participantrik, there was some talk with the owner of the original larry ernst car which is restored to the first version about bringing the car to indy so we could have both versions together. but it wasn’t meant to be. would have been great!

ParticipantThanks for posting those Rik. I never seem to get the time I need to resize them all and get them posted. You can always tell what I am thinking about, working on and planning for by the detail shots I take. LOL This time it was headliners so I can get mine fixed and right. LOL. I also took a bunch of pics of where Appletons are mounted on 49-51 Chevys…the Ernst car in particular. I thought I was taking them to figure out where to mount them on my 49 Fleetline….little did I know they will now likely be mounted in my new 50 Grapevine-ish coupe. 😉
Bob and Kevin put on a great show and it’s hard to believe after all the anticipation and work on the Merc to get there that it’s over already. Wish I could go back and do it all over this weekend. 🙂

I had heard that, too and was really hoping to get to see it. Oh well, maybe one of these days. It’s really wonderful the draw this show has from all over and getting to see so many great cars in person I have only seen in pictures. Lots of cars this year that have been around a looonnngggg time. So cool.

KeymasterYea I had heard those stories about the Larry Ernst Chevy as well… I sort of forgot until you brought it back up. Really to bad it could not make it. Would have been really great to see the original and recreation back together again. Last time was in the old fashion negative photo time.. and not to many pictures where taken then. We now would have had a ton of pictures of them… oh well. Perhaps next year.
More photos from David.
Walter Leeman’s very nice Chevy… and David, I love your detail shots of the Appletons’s and Interiors.. and I think that many others will love those as well.

KeymasterThis one has been around for many years… And has been redone in more recent years. One of the things they did was – in my eyes – the worst thing you can do to a full custom Merc, pie cut section the hood. So that is, again in my eyes, making this car look a lot less attractive. But what I do like on it are the flush fit hand made skirts.
This car was there when I started to fall in love with the Mercury’s back in the 1980’s… so even thought I do not like the new hood, it still has a special place in my heart.Enjoy the beauty of Customizing
