    1950 Ford Custom Deluxe
Featured cover car in Kustoms Illustrated issue #52, volume 13, number 4

Completely restored and built as a traditional-style kustom with modern running gear for dependability.

    Mechanicals:

Balanced and blueprinted 302 Ford motor with new Edelbrock intake and carburetor, C4 auto transmission with Lokar floor shifter, 8” Ford rear axle. Aluminum valve covers and matching air cleaner, GM HEI style electronic ignition, aluminum radiator with SPAHL electric fan, Holley fuel pump, new gas tank, new driveshaft. Jamco dropped spindles and Aerostar front coil springs, New Goodyear 6.70-15 Super Cushion Deluxe tires with 4.75” whitewall. Old Car Air heater/AC/defrost system that has been professionally installed, EZ Wiring kit professionally installed

Kustom work and metal work performed:

Tudor sedan-Chopped 5.5” with slanted B pillars, rear window moved forward and lowered at the belt line to resemble a coupe, extended catwalk, shaved drip rails, rounded upper door corners, windshield opened up into the crown of the roof for better visibility and proportions.

All metalwork on this car has been finished to a high standard, as evidenced by the chrome-plated inside window frames. All outside stainless window opening trim has been chopped down and chrome-plated for the right amount of traditional detail. Vent windows are functional and door glass rolls up and down smoothly. After the chop was completed and bodywork/paint were done, every piece of felt and rubber was replaced. All new EMS lower panels and rockers have been installed for a perfectly solid body.

-Metalwork, kustom design, and chop done by King Kustoms in Temecula, CA (now Lake Elsinore, CA)

-Paint and bodywork done by Zbest with one-off, custom-mixed Medium Metallic Blue paint color that really pops and has some bitchin green tints to it in certain lighting. It looks like a candy blue in person.

Kustom features that set this car apart:

’50 Buick tail light lenses (NOS) in handmade, extended openings that have been blended into the Ford wind-splits

’52 Mercury head light bezels that have been trimmed and moved in for a smoother look

’49 Ford trunk hinges (smoother than ’50 hinges) & ’50 Ford side trim with smooth front fender sections

-Modified ’50 Ford grill with parking lights removed and ’49 lower valance trim added

-Appleton S-552 spotlights: originals that have been restored (rare and expensive)

-New McVey Cadillac sombrero hubcaps made to fit Ford rims

-Bear claw door and trunk latches with remote poppers on key fob

-Diamond tuck pleated interior with lowered front seat for visibility and headroom

-NOS Foxcraft fender skirts that have been trimmed and welded for better fit and finish

All new: rubber and felt weatherstripping and seals, new chrome throughout, new glass throughout, new interior (carpet, seats, headliner, etc.). Car is located in Southern California and can be shown by appointment. This car is ready to show and go and can be driven anywhere. Perfect timing for the upcoming car show season!
