No new progress. Still catching up on post flood work on 53s but interestingly these photos turned up on the Packard site yesterday.
Turns out to be the one off 40 Rollson Custom Sedan that was purchased by a Pueto Rico judge.
Look at the hip in the rear door. Exactly how I did the hip on mine.ÂMarch 20, 2022 at 10:39 #73097Bert GustafssonParticipantVery cool, and a very nice looking sedan.
March 23, 2022 at 23:36 #73107KingKustomsParticipantI love every part of this amazing build!

these are the hinge gates. finally cut them up and jigged and welded. Note I can assemble them shortly and should have the inner structure swinging this time next week.
All the other bits are fabricated, just needs assembly and welding up.May 20, 2022 at 14:36 #73397Larry PointerParticipantPraise be! Quentin is back onto the Packard project. Hallelujah. You, and Australia’s equally phenomenal weather, have had us all on the edges of our seats here in Life’s dark matinee theatre.
May 21, 2022 at 14:57 #73398Mild MitchParticipantAmen Brother!
July 4, 2022 at 16:33 #73541Larry PointerParticipantQuentin! Are you safe through the flooding in your area?
July 4, 2022 at 22:29 #73542Quentin HallParticipantYes, I’m in Brisbane Queensland . Tony  is too. Though we don’t live together.  We are safe. It’s raining. Brisbane copped the bad flooding in Feb. Now it’s Sydney copping it. This is very unseasonable rain…. Some would say geoengineering is playing a part…. ??? Not normal whatever it is.
My Packard engine is down there. I’ve been planning to drive down and get it but keep getting thwarted by major catastrophic events. The world has gone crazy.
On a brighter note, I’ve been distracted on the arrival of the wreck of a very special 53 Eldo. One of one that I’m currently pulling down and putting away in my already crammed workshop.I previously used phosphorous acid to prepare rusted panels. It quadrupled I’m price so I have tried citric acid for the first time and I am impressed with the results.
This is a test run of 50 bits in a bucket as you can see. This result is after 24 hours. They were heavily encrusted and now look brand new.
I’ve set up a barrel for the dash and will show its progress in a couple of days.ÂJuly 5, 2022 at 00:56 #73544TonyParticipantGood stuff.
July 5, 2022 at 15:49 #73546James DParticipantVinegar works well too. Parts don’t come out of the tank clean, but the rust just brushes off and leaves totally clean metal.
July 22, 2022 at 22:56 #73601Quentin HallParticipantHere is a stunning 39 Packard one off by Bohman and Schwartz.Â
July 22, 2022 at 22:57 #73602Quentin HallParticipantIn other good news…a Sydney 39 Packard owner mate has collected my straight 8 and hopefully will deliver it in a couple of weeks time.
Can’t wait.July 23, 2022 at 17:06 #73604James DParticipantA runner?
July 23, 2022 at 22:50 #73606Quentin HallParticipantAs with anything 83 years old, she may need some love and affection.
In any event I can use it too much up the driveline.
Then I can complete the floors and substructure of the chassis.
July 24, 2022 at 01:08 #73607Larry PointerParticipantA Packard one year older than this old codger. I remember Conquistador Car Club founding member Gary Richards first firing up his 1939 Packard 4-door, all restored in deep blue. Paired sidemount spares. I swear there was hardly a vibration coming out of that restored straight 8. You had to put your hand on the motor head to feel it was running. Like a fine watch. Good on you, Quentin!
