I’m researching all the nuances of the Darrins and found this cowl pic and wondered what wiper towers were used. An article on a 41 Darrin sedan pointed to 1940 Ford and I think after research tF5921050-9352-4534-B78A-B982652FB1CEhat might be correct. But convertible/ commercial NOT sedan /coupe. The difference is the base is flat. One step closer.

I’ll have a look at my 40 convertible when I’m home from work next Quentin.

My gut feeling is that they look different to your photo….

They could have also been used on Hudson 41 thru 46. But the timeline doesn’t fit as the Darrin were built 38 thru 41. FEA964F3-81DA-4C3A-9240-0545A0EB9DBF

I’ve been given a complete Jag mk9 body . The more I look at the Jag styling the more I think I can make it work. I’ll probably want to add the distinctive rear of the Packard guards shape ,or use the Packard rear guards completely… but I may be able to blend cos the Jag ones are already moulded in. Gonna dream about it some more before I start cutting up the Jag.

    Another stylish Jaguar for inspiration.

It’s a 1939 Jaguar ss100 with body by Van Den Plas, Belgium.

Wow, that Darrin looks really dumpy from the rear, and the roof is hideous! The door dip looks like a real half baked afterthought.

Those last two Jags look nice.

I think for early classic styling the rear fenders need to extend further rearward than the body. IMHO.

Man, I’m with Tony 100%. The tail and top of the Packard can be so much better! And the dip in the Jag’s door flows much nicer too.

Yes, Interesting how the more that was updated and done to the car, it feels like it became more end more mundane.
