Continental kits were a dealer option. They were popular especially on the 50 thru 53s.  I have two originals but I don’t really love them. They probably went on 1/4 of the cars maybe less… I might put one on one of the cars…. Just cos I have it.

That is a really bad reason.

Which means at least 3/4 of the owners appreciated the beauty of the car!

I’ve put out requests on the Packard forum and Cadillac forum to find a pair of decent headlight glasses to no avail. They were either odd pairs or stone chipped. So I had a look on Australian eBay and found 3 nos Guide lenses for $100 but it now. Arrived yesterday and I couldn’t be happier. Normally these would sell for $200US each.
Just got to work out how they clamp in now. But this is a great and lucky find.
The chrome trim rings are the original Packard ones that I found hanging on the wall of the shed it was in. 5845988B-08AA-4FDE-BB2E-F719C84F5AF5

There is a youtube of a guy molding lenses very similar to those. May have been Cadillac. He said they were hard to find. Came out nice, crystal clear.

You got a good score though. You never know what’s out there.

Found another Saab getting wrecked so went to see if I could salvage another decent top. Unfortunately it has a big tear. But I got the whole mechanism with all the hydraulics and pump intact really cheap. Really cheap!!!!

I foolishly cut the hydraulic lines early on on the original top mech thinking I would raise and lower it manually. But I’ve since learned you can isolate the computer brain box and with three switches automatically operate the top and parade boot.  So maybe today I’ll swap everything out. The torn roof lining will make a good template to stitch another top down the track.

I told him I was building a little Packard powered hotrod. He showed me pics of some incredible Packards that he owned.
Yesterday his curator posted an original Rollson proposal from 1940 for a car that possibly was never built. Oh wow!!!

You can imagine my excitement upon seeing it.

What an awesome find. Beautiful bit of artwork.

Still, I think your car looks better.
