Found this pic of a 37? Graber that no one seems to know anything about. Looks to be a fixed padded top. Lots of custom touches like front valance and bumpers. Very elegant.Â

But your Packard is making Dutch Darrin a runner-up. Keep up the good work, and the progress reports!

Still a way to go to get gaps where I want them but for the moment this is ok. ( body needs to come off soon so I can do chassis mods so better to leave some leeway for later).
Mid morn Tony came over and we played 39 Ford running boards ….. and then finally it was Packard time again.
Got my pen nib cut a welded in.Â

May 3, 2021 at 14:07 #70721TonyParticipantObviously someone could not wait for me to post…
So here is a proud father at the birth of his baby spear:
Sure, Quentin had some involvement in this little project, but I was the one who said “Yes, it’s lined up” before he cut or welded anything. A pivotal role.;)

May 10, 2021 at 10:28 #70742Quentin HallParticipantMonday is Packard day…. at least it’s supposed to be. Went to work early to get stuck in knowing I had only one job which was to extract another carpet snake from my old studio ( which is now my son’s room. ) The former marital home that after the divorce I no longer live there. I just pay the mortgage , council and water rates and fix everything that breaks.
I went there yesterday to try and get it out. Somehow it had gotten into the sliding track of the large 1.2 x 2.4 sliding door frame. We lifted the 80kg door off the tracks and sure enough there it was 4ft long coiled up in the extrusion of the aluminium frame. As soon as it saw us it slithered done the hollow vertical member of the door….. Damn!!!!
Anyhow I didn’t want to kill it by sticking a rod down there so decided to leave the door off and at 45 degrees on the landing and hopefully by morning it would be gone.
So I just started and Preston rang. “Snakes still there!”….  Double damn.
So I grabbed my glass suckers and went there. The only way to get it out was to carry the 80kg door down a flight of stairs. Which I did…. only to discover it had gone in the last 30 mins.
So then I had to carry the 80kg door back up the stairs and put it back on the tracks….
by this time it was 10.30am and I’m huffing and puffing… and my daughter Bronte comes up and says the toilets blocked.
“ Daaaad the toilet’s blocked!!!”…..
So 4 hrs later I have dug a huge hole to the junction pipe and sent the manual wind up drain clearer ( spring cable with  a head that grabs the roots up there. Anyhow I pulled a good root out. (The only good root I ever pulled there. ) and it all came whooooshing down like a tsunami. It was mildly satisfying despite the fact that I was covered in shit.
As soon as that was done Bronte asked if we could go to the Transport dept so she could put her numberplates I bought her for her upcoming birthday…. cos every time I ask her something she says “Whaaaat?”
So off we went it’s now 3.30. I stink. I’m cranky. But we got it done. Raced her home grabbed a Maccas $2 burger.
Raced back to the shed and cut the other side wiper base into the cowl….that’s all I got done.
So much for “Packard Monday”.

I didn’t know you were a licensed plumber. Another skill.
I hope you at least got a thank you.
(And I’m probably the only one who got your root comment.)

May 10, 2021 at 22:54 #70750TonyParticipantJust so you know, a carpet snake is a common type of python.
May 10, 2021 at 23:10 #70751Quentin HallParticipantThis is it’s 4m Mum that set up in Preston’s room two weeks prior.Â
May 11, 2021 at 07:19 #70752Mild MitchParticipantJeeeeeez!
May 12, 2021 at 02:39 #70754TorchieParticipantNice!!!!!
That’s one of the benefits of where I live. Reptiles are few and far between.
I learned to do plumbing wayyy back when. As well as basic electrical. I’m what’s known in my family as a “Emergency” plumber . I always had to call 3 plumbers just to have no one show up. So I learned it.
Love the windshield and the wiper towers.

May 13, 2021 at 10:11 #70774Quentin HallParticipantSmall progress,  but progress nonetheless. Tidied up the door gap . Won’t do any more till new lower floor is welded in because no doubt the gaps might change with all the welding.
The problem is that I am happy just looking at this side for the moment…. it looks so good when I arrive at work and just before I leave  …. I really need to turn it around and get the other fender and door underway.
