Well my holiday free time has nearly come to an end but I think I’ve laid the ground work for what I’ve set out to achieve. I mocked up the hood sides templates yesterday in between rain storms and then made the hood sides. Both sides are spot on dimensionally. I’ll get some piano hinges today and get them hung.
Very happy with the flow and form it’s starting to take. Might only get a day a week now.Â
I went to the Gilmore Museum in Michigan last year and saw the Graber Duesenberg in person. We were standing in awe of it and a guy on a motorised scooter wheelchair came into the room and crashed into the side of it. I’m not joking. Dented the aluminium sill.
Ps I think the Duesy roof was chopped during restoration. I have seen photos of it from the 60s unrestored and the roof was much more bulbous. It is an incredible car!
Well it’s been a productive few weeks. Got to knuckle down and go back to work now. Holidays are over. But I got a lot done and the way forward is clearer.
Yesterday I went to collect the Mk9 trunklid off my Jag mate and when I got there he had a nice Mk2 in the driveway. With a much softer flow to the bum. So I ventured if he had a mk2 trunklid…. and he did.
The shape is much better suited and the sides are the same taper as the rear guards. So I cut the roof sides down,  filled a bin with rusty junk and stepped back and took these “happy snaps”.
Then as I looked at the pics last night I noticed the base on the water tank that blew over in a storm the other night. Looks like I’ve found my floors.Â
