In the Ford world, Model A rails are 4″ tall, 32’s are 6″ tall. What you have is basically 7″ tall. I think you can easily reduce that to 5″ and make it look factory.
Also, with those low sided sports car-ish bodies, you do do sit more “out” of the car.
But with all these ergonomic things, it’s all about mocking up over and over.
Sadly there are many cars that look great, but a person looks like a dick driving it.

I was more interested in how wide it was to determine if the roof will fit. Looking at the rake on Bert’s Beauty I think I can lay it  down a little more. I’ll do that in the morning and reshape the outer A pillar. I need to get some 6.5 rod to make some lines for the body.  But so far the dimensions are true either side.

Relaxed a little and enjoyed letting Brontë, my 16 yo daughter drive me to the yard on her learner’s licence. She was bored in two hours but I managed to weld in the cowl vent. I’ve put a slight crease. Through the middle of the hood and cowl to give a little stiffness and will cover it with a narrow stainless trim from the radiator ornament to the windshield.

Generally, you need your knees to be further forward than the bottom of the steering wheel. Are you relocating pedals or anything?
January 9, 2020 at 21:44 #66021Quentin HallParticipantYes. The steering wheel is too close. I plan on cutting the shaft and putting in a junction and bring it back and up on a higher angle. For the moment I’ll just concentrate on the cowl and keep making the infills and deal with seating position and ergonomics later. I will have heaps of space to mount a new brake and clutch pedal assembly under the new cowl. My mate has several truck cab over pedal assemblies for me to look at. I can hide a booster under there too.

Jus' creepin' along..
January 11, 2020 at 09:44 #66029Quentin HallParticipantBert was kind enough to share some pics of his windshield fabrication. His mate in Sweden constructed it. Solid stainless bar was machined for the glass groove. That’s some serious machining if you’ve ever played with stainless. Truly one of the best shaped screens I’ve seen. I particularly like the less ornate A pillars that perfectly compliment the early 40s build.Â
January 14, 2020 at 11:08 #66092Quentin HallParticipantGood day today on the cowl infills which fought me a bit. But they are close and everything is still square. Start the hood sides tomorrow. Back to Perth next Monday. Pleased to have gotten this far.
Crazy stupid project but I’m enjoying myself and metal is cheap. I have a spare 53 coupe roof that I’m thinking about dropping on top to see what it looks like. Has nice round compound curves and with the Packard rear window it might just work.ÂJanuary 14, 2020 at 11:13 #66094Quentin HallParticipantJanuary 14, 2020 at 11:15 #66095Quentin HallParticipant -
