The famous Curly Tremayne 1950 Mercury is about to get restored.
Curly’s Mercury is one of the chopped Mercs that set the trend once again in the early 1980’s. An how to on chopping the top on this Mercury has been the inspiration for many chopped Mercury’s during that time, and even decades later.

We will be following the whole progress of the restoration here on the Custom Car Chronicle.
(I will be adding more in info about the car a little later)

This is how Curly’s Merc looked back in the early 1980’s.

Brandon Glymph shared photos of the Mercury arriving at his shop.

Rod Powell was responsible for the wild dash painting, which is fortunately still in good condition.

Man, I always loved that car. A plus for me was NO SPOTS! (And I hope the kick stands, sorry, lakes pipes stay off too.)

It was at a mate of mine’s garage party last year…I’m glad work has started.

So awesome! There have to be piles of these 80’s and 90’s Merc gathering dust somewhere that need to be back out and getting some air…..and love.

Excellent!  Looks like someone took pretty good care of it..  Many were not treated so well.

Another interesting project to watch while it comes together!

Great to see this finally happening. I hope those tailpipes aren’t going to remain hanging like that.

    Wow, that’s one cool merc!

In the second pic, is it my eyes or does it have a bit of a darker fade paint job around the headlights and lower half? Probably just the photo and lighting playing tricks……

So happy to see this Merc being restored.  It always has been one of my favorites.  Nothing over the top, garish, or out of synch in overall styling.  A beautiful custom!
